Angel playing the organ

This statuette consists of a principal piece of wood (lime?) with assembled secondary elements, depicting an angel playing a small portative organ.
– Traces of fixing in the workbench vice not detected: on the head, a posterior filling; under the base, not accessible.
– Assembled elements: right wing (missing) fixed on the right side in a rectangular cavity; on the reverse, traces of nails (three cavities) for the (original or later?) fixing of the missing left wing.
– Details carved on the wood surface: tremolo work to evoke the appearance of the floor.
– Cracks: in particular on the right cheek, a crack filled with a wooden plug.
– Significant woodworm attack (currently inactive); wood heavily damaged.
– Main losses: wings; outer part of the left hand and the organ bellows; chips on the hair, the hem of the garments and the base.
– Later interventions: addition of a sole under the base; probably during the intervention by Paul Hemery in 1970–1971, restoration of some fingers and remodelling of various parts with numerous surface fillings in the wood, in particular on the right handle of the alb, the bottom of the dalmatic on the right and some organ pipes.
