In this miniature, which illustrates the preface dedicated to David as a musician, the King is depicted wearing a crown while seated on a bench playing the harp. Before him stands a rod from which three bells (the cymbals) hang, while at his feet a small portable organ rests. The scene stands out against a luminous golden background and is enclosed in a pink and blue frame, enriched with delicate white decorations. The illustration is inserted in the manuscript right beside the texts celebrating David’s role as author and musician of the Psalms.
