This ivory plaquette, probably part of a wax writing tablet, presents a complex depiction of the Assumption and Coronation of the Virgin, framed by three arches with pointed trefoils in the tympana and spandrels. At the centre of the scene, Christ appears crowned and seated on a draped throne. Below him, the composition is peopled with celestial figures: two half-figures of angels, one swinging a censer and holding a boat, while the other crowns Mary. The Virgin is depicted within a mandorla of clouds supported by two other angels. To complete the divine celebration, four musical angels play various instruments, including a psaltery, drums and a portable organ, the whole enclosed within a characteristic notched border.
