At the opening of Psalm 98, the initial letter “C” is finely decorated and encloses within it the figure of King David as a musician. The sovereign, wearing his crown, is depicted seated on a bench while supporting a positive organ with both hands. The entire scene is embellished by a golden background that makes the royal figure stand out, and is enclosed within a richly ornamented frame that underlines its liturgical and artistic importance.
